Endorsement

"Removing almost all business taxes, including property taxes on improvements, excepting only taxes reflecting the marginal social cost of public services rendered to specific activities, and replacing them with taxes on site values, would substantially improve the economic efficiency of the jurisdiction."William Vickrey, professor of economics and Nobel Laureate

Eight Nobel Laureates in Economics have endorsed a tax on land values rather than on production.

About Us

The Henry George Foundation of America (HGFA) was founded in 1926. HGFA is a 501(c) 4 non-profit foundation located in the heart of the second largest city on the east coast, the birthplace of Henry George, Philadelphia, PA. Workshops and presentations offered are designed to motivate attendees to apply the concepts learned to the current challenges and opportunities facing Pennsylvania's cities, towns and boroughs.

Our mission is to promote the theory of political economy as developed by Henry George through education, research and political action; and to work for the taxation of land values as well as reduction of taxes on labor and capital.

We invite you to learn more about how, working together, we can achieve a tax system that is economically stable, fair, and efficient.  Get Involved

“Political economy is not a set of dogmas. It is the explanation of a certain set of facts. It is the science which … seeks to trace mutual relations and to identify cause and effect.”
